Historical Mine-Ajo

"An aerial view of the New Cornelia Branch in September 1956 shows its entire landscape of production: the open-pit mine, concentrator, and smelter. Following the outbreak of war in Korea in June 1950, production at Ajo climbed to the highest levels since 1943. During the 1950s and 1960s, Ajo consistently produced between 100 million and 140 million pounds of copper while requiring only modest infusions of capital."
